Getting Mounjaro in Korea

Prescription only, passport required

Tirzepatide is supplied in Korea under the Mounjaro brand. It is a prescription medicine, so it is not sold over the counter and not dispensed on request. A doctor examines you, confirms whether the class is appropriate, and prescribes if it is.

For visitors, the practical requirements are short. Bring a passport. You do not need Korean national health insurance, a residence card, or a visa document. If you already take tirzepatide abroad, bring the pharmacy label or prescription so the dose can be continued rather than restarted. Medication is dispensed the same day when a prescription is appropriate, and how many weeks leave with you is a clinical decision as well as a matter of pharmacy rules and your destination’s customs limits.

What Mounjaro is

Prescription only

Mounjaro is tirzepatide, a once-weekly injection that acts on two incretin receptors, GIP and GLP-1, rather than GLP-1 alone. In practice that means appetite signalling and gastric emptying are both affected, which is why the dose is raised slowly and why the first two weeks after each increase are the ones patients notice.

It is supplied in Korea as a single-use pen, injected into the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm on the same day each week. Dose steps run from 2.5 mg to 15 mg.

Dose schedule

Each step is held for at least four weeks. Escalation is a clinical decision reviewed at follow-up, which can be done remotely once you have left Korea.

1

2.5 mg, weeks 1–4

A starting dose, not a treatment dose. Its purpose is tolerance, not weight change.

2

5 mg, weeks 5–8

The first maintenance-capable step. Many patients stay here longer than four weeks.

3

7.5 to 10 mg

Raised only if the previous step is tolerated and the response has plateaued.

4

12.5 to 15 mg

Reserved for patients who need it. Not a target, and not everyone reaches it.

Frequently asked

How much is Mounjaro in Korea?

A four-week supply ranges from ₩440,000 at the 2.5 mg starting dose to ₩1,100,000 at 15 mg, tax included. Pricing is per pen strength, so the figure rises as the dose is escalated. A first consultation is ₩50,000, applied toward treatment on the same day. These are the same figures quoted to Korean patients.

Can foreigners buy Mounjaro in Korea?

A visitor can be prescribed tirzepatide after an in-person examination. A Korean medical licence permits prescribing to any patient the doctor has examined, so visa status is not a criterion. Registration takes a passport. Korean national health insurance is not required, which means you pay the published private rate.

Where can I get Mounjaro in Seoul?

It is prescribed at clinics, not sold over the counter, and it follows a consultation rather than a request. YOON CLINIC is at 109 Dongjak-daero in Dongjak-gu, two minutes from Isu Station Exit 12 on Lines 4 and 7, about fifteen minutes from Gangnam.

Is Mounjaro cheaper in Korea than in the United States?

It depends which American price you compare with. Against manufacturer list prices, Korea is far cheaper. Against the American self-pay programmes, which fell to $299 to $449 a month in 2026, Korea is comparable at the starting dose and more expensive at higher doses. The dose-by-dose comparison is published on this site.

Is Mounjaro the same as Zepbound?

Both are tirzepatide from the same manufacturer. Zepbound is the brand licensed for weight management in the United States; Mounjaro is the brand supplied in Korea. The molecule is identical, the pen differs.

How fast does the dose go up?

The standard schedule holds each step for four weeks before moving up, starting at 2.5 mg. Escalation is not automatic. If a step is poorly tolerated we hold it or step back rather than push through.

What if I am already on tirzepatide abroad?

Bring your current prescription or pharmacy label and your most recent dose. In most cases treatment continues at the dose you are on rather than restarting at 2.5 mg, though that is confirmed at consultation.

Does it need refrigeration?

Yes. Pens are stored at 2 to 8 °C. For travel they go in hand luggage with a cool pack and the pharmacy label. We supply an English prescription summary for airport screening.

Can I switch from Wegovy to Mounjaro here?

Switching between GLP-1 classes is a clinical decision that depends on your response, side effects, and current dose. It is discussed at consultation, not arranged in advance.
